Gourds have many meanings, including prosperity of offspring, protection from evil, protection from calamity, and prosperity in business.
It is available in three colors: black, vermilion and tame(Translucent lacquer on red).

"Maki-e" is a unique Japanese decoration method in which patterns are drawn in lacquer, sprinkled with gold or silver powder, and polished. The luster of fine lacquer and gold or silver powder is a small art for the dining table.
