南天は冬に鮮やかな赤い果実をつけるめでたい花木として、正月の床にも飾られます。また、「難を転じて福となす」という諺としても親しまれ、災いから逃れる意味を持つ縁起のいい文様です。
色は黒・朱・溜（ため）の3色です。
＊蒔絵とは漆で文様を描き、金粉や銀粉を蒔いて磨き上げる日本独自の加飾方法です。上質な漆と金銀の輝きは食卓の小さな芸術です。

Nanten, a flowering tree that bears bright red berries in winter, is decorated on the floor during the New Year. In Japan, there is a proverb that says, "Turning misfortune into fortune," and it is an auspicious design that means escaping from misfortune.
It is available in three colors: black, vermilion and tame(Translucent lacquer on red).
"Maki-e" is a unique Japanese decoration method in which patterns are drawn in lacquer, sprinkled with gold or silver powder, and polished. The luster of fine lacquer and gold or silver powder is a small art for the dining table.
